CCSD is showing educational films at Galaxy Theatre at the Boulevard Mall.

It is on Saturday, September 14.

The screenings are either Legends of the Enchanted Reef, Cities of the Future narrated by John Krasinski, or Dragons: Real Myths and Unreal Creatures in 3D

Description of the films:

Legend of the Enchanted Reef – Join energetic Shorty, intelligent Indigo, and daring sawfish Jake on a colorful coral reef adventure. After a fishing trawler devastates their reef, the trio has no choice but to set out on a quest to find a new home.  As they search the sea for a legendary reef, the friends encounter a variety of intriguing environments, from kelp forests to sunken wrecks—and even outer space!  Legend of the Enchanted Reef is filled with humor and imagination that the whole family will enjoy. The film combines entertainment and education with an important message about the impact of ocean pollution. Legend of the Enchanted Reef Trailer Link (recommended all ages)

Cities of the Future is brought to you by MacGillivray Freeman the makers of Dream Big. Imagine stepping 50 years into the future and finding smart cities designed to be totally sustainable. Renewable energy is our primary power source, space-based solar power provides solar energy 24 hrs a day, everything is recycled, and you travel in individualized pods that run on little or no energy. This isn’t science fiction. Engineers are making plans for a sustainable world right now, and it’s coming to the giant screen!

Dragons: Real Myths and Unreal Creatures – For thousands of years, dragon mythology has existed across many cultures and continents, inspiring stories of terror, heroics, majesty and national pride. If dragons are just creatures of legend, how could these stories have emerged at different times in ancient Babylon, Greece, Asia and Medieval Europe?  To answer this question, follow the unique tale of a dreamer and a scholar who share an unusual bond. The pair explore how dragons have influenced our culture, our art and literature, and our dreams, and they discover that these legends have some basis in reality.
