As seniors graduate this evening, it’s important to remember the people that got each and every one of them to this point. Teachers play a crucial role in the lives of students and Robert Smith from Hal Smith Elementary School exhibits what it’s like to be a true supporter and mentor to his 5th grade classes. He doesn’t stop assisting his students when they complete his class and move on to middle school though. He always provides support to his students, whether or not they are enrolled in his classroom. Green Valley High School senior, Gaven Mosich, a former student of Mr. Smith, got an email from Smith this semester that congratulated him on nearing graduation. The email was sent to Gaven’s entire 5th grade class from 7 years ago. Gaven, and many others, expecting this kindness from their former teacher, responded to the email with tickets to their graduation. This kind of reunion is something Mr. Smith has already done with over 20 of his past students. Say hi to Mr. Smith tonight because he is joining Green Valley’s graduation to support Gaven and the rest of the class of 2024!
