Speech and Debate Results

Green Valley’s speech and debate team finished their online Speech Olympiad tournament yesterday!  The tournament hosted schools from Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, California, Utah, and New Jersey. 

The tournament is one of two in the Valley that was selected to be a National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) qualifying tournament.  

This week, students competed in speech events in novice and varsity categories.

  Novices are competitors who are in their first year of competition and varsity students are those who are after their first year.  

Here are the Results:

NOVICE:

Humor: Red Vales – 1st

           Donovan Delasin – 2nd

Duo:  Mallorie Watson/Anthony VanBuren – 1st

POI: Pierce Roderick – 1st

Novice Extemp: Will Fronk – 3rd

                        Josh Huslig – 5th

Informative Speaking: Blair Johnston – 2nd

  Kenzie Moore – 3rd

Oratory: Eloise McCormick – 1st

Drama: Eloise McCormick – 1st

           Lexi Coleman – 2nd

VARSITY:

Drama: Eloise McCormick – 3rd

POI:  Kira Hopkins-King- 2nd (Tied for 1st, but had to move to the third tiebreaker to break the tie.)

         Pierce Roderick- 6th

Humor:  Max Hart- 6th
