This past Friday in San Jose, California, Green NV delivered a performance that will not soon be forgotten.
After being selected through a competitive audition process, Green NV took the stage at the Western Region Conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Their appearance marked a historic milestone for the conference — they are the first contemporary a cappella group ever invited to perform in the long history of the event.
And they made the most of the moment.
From the first note to the final chord, the group captivated the audience with an electrifying performance that truly “knocked the roof off the place.” Their sound, energy, and stage presence showcased the incredible talent and dedication of the ensemble.
What makes Green NV even more impressive is that the group is entirely student-run. Leadership for the ensemble comes from student leaders Jairo Dancel, Jayme Gibbs, Nathan Gibbs, and Molly McCartney, who guide the group both musically and organizationally. The choreography that helped bring their performance to life was also created by one of their own — Jayme Gibbs — highlighting the creativity and initiative that define the group.
Their set featured six dynamic pieces that demonstrated both vocal versatility and artistic expression:
- Daft Punk
- Run To You
- Love Shack
- Pure Imagination
- I Lived
- Ain’t It Fun
Each piece brought something unique to the stage, blending tight harmonies, engaging choreography, and the signature energy that contemporary a cappella audiences love.
Green NV’s performance at ACDA represents more than just a standout concert moment — it’s a testament to what passionate, motivated students can accomplish when they take ownership of their artistry and leadership.
Make sure to Congratulate Green NV and their student leadership team for representing their program so powerfully and making history at ACDA!
